SOCCER COUNCIL OF WAXHAW (SCW)
The Soccer Council of Waxhaw (SCW) began in the early summer of 1986. With continued growth of youth soccer in our area, it was apparent that soccer needed an organization solely devoted to the sport. Since the early days of SCW's formation, the number of players and teams has made Waxhaw one of the top 3 soccer organizations in Union County. SCW is a member of the North Carolina Youth Soccer Association, (NCYSA) and it's local affiliation with Union Soccer Association, (USA). SCW has also branched out over the years and participated in several state and out of state tournaments as well as played in leagues in the local surrounding counties. SCW has fielded teams that have won every age group championship in the USA End of Season Tournament, league championships from surrounding counties, and 1st place gold medals at the North Carolina State Games. Today, the Soccer Council has grown to 11 members and has provided the sport of soccer for over 800 families and 1000 players. The growth and development of the SCW has been challenging and satisfying. The ongoing challenge for SCW is to provide the very best environment for our children to learn the game of soccer with the best coaching, equipment, and facilities. In 2002, the organization became a 501C3 Corporation which is a non profit corporation allowing SCW to receive tax deductible donations from businesses and individuals. Who knows what the future will hold, but as the fastest growing sport for the youth in America, SCW is committed to making sure the experience of playing soccer in a team environment in Waxhaw will be one every player will look back on fondly for the rest of their lives.
